At age seven I was gifted a Brownie camera and began taking photographs.  At age 11, I studied oil painting with Naomi Fink, a  realist oil painter who  copied the work of the Master Painters to perfection. I was given copies of paintings to copy which enhanced my technical skills but did not encourage creativity.  My  J.H.S. and H.S. art teachers encouraged me to create my own art and said I had  a lot of potential.  As an undergraduate at Brooklyn College I took a wide variety of classes but chose painting, drawing and photography, as my majors, and in 1971, received a B.A. in Art Education.  I received an M.A.T. in Art Education at the University of Massachusetts in 1973, where I studied painting and printmaking. In 1979, I received an M.F.A. in printmaking and photography from The George Washington University. Having taught art for many years, I retired in 2013, and returned to pursuing painting, drawing and photography. I studied watercolor painting with Howard Watson and  Marcia Weikert. My subject matter includes nature, landscapes, cityscapes for which I use watercolors, and for portraits  of people and animals, I use  graphite, and colored pencils. My work is realistic in style. I always have my camera available to capture  photos of the world around me. If you are interested in having a portrait done please contact me.
